Toyota of Hattiesburg Participated in Raising $13,000 for Local Veterans and Christmas Toy Drive
Family and community are important to all of us at Toyota of Hattiesburg and the holidays are all about giving back. This holiday season we want to celebrate local veterans, their families and the work that they do within the community. In the Hattiesburg community, the Marine Corps League is an important fixture and an organization that we are proud to support at their annual golf tournament. This year Toyota of Hattiesburg participated in raising $13,000 for local veterans and a Christmas toy drive at the Marine Corps League Golf Tournament. 2017 Marine Corps League Golf Tournament Details and Results
Each year, the Hattiesburg Marine Corps League Commiskey-Wheat Detachment #1073 hosts an annual golf tournament that helps raise funds that are used to support local veterans and their families. This year’s event was held at the Canebrake Country Club on October 9 and Toyota of Hattiesburg was proud to serve as a primary sponsor. With the funds raised at this important annual event, the detachment can fund local charities and programs that support those in need.
More than $13,000 were raised at the event this year that will support countless causes that include college scholarships, Honor Flights, honor guard and flag ceremonies, assistance programs for hospitalized veterans, aid for veterans who return home and the Toys for the Needy Christmas Toy Drive. As a sign of appreciation, Alton Pierce from Toyota of Hattiesburg was presented with an award of appreciation by Clifton Addison, the Senior Vice Commandant of the detachment.
What is the Toys for the Needy Christmas Toy Drive?
The Marine Corps League is an important part of the Hattiesburg community and shows its support with many causes that include the Toys for the Needy Christmas Toy Drive. A portion of the funds raised at the annual golf tournament will be used to purchase toys and gifts that are then distributed to children in the Hattiesburg area to help make Christmas just a little brighter for those in need.
